The Wilson County Beekeepers Association meets Monday, 12 September 2011 at 7:00 PM at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center on the Wilson County Fairgrounds in Lebanon Tennessee.

The program for September:   Fall and Winter Management presented by Mike Studer

Note: After you enter the fairgrounds through the main gate, we are in the West Building (2nd building on your left). Look for all the cars.

Congratulations to Janet Corley on winning the 2011 Tom Hart “Bluest of the Blues” Award for her Dark Amber Extracted Honey entry.  And what a beautiful jar of honey it is!

And congratulations to all entrants and winners in the 2011 Wilson County Fair Exhibit competition.   The complete list of winners is available for download in pdf format here:

This list can also be found on the Resources page accessible by the tab above.

A couple dozen photos taken by Steve Buckner on Thursday, 18 August 2011 at the Wilson County Beekeepers Association booth in the Wilson County Fair have been posted here:

Anyone going to Kelley’s in the next week or so that can pick up an order?

Also, this is the final call for anyone wanting to be placed on the honey producers’ list for the fair.  If you have honey for sale and want to let the public know, let me know and I will be sure to put your name and number on the list.

Thanks,

Petra

For those of you that missed last night’s meeting:

  • Still have bears (for donations) if anyone would like to donate
  • Still looking for items for the ‘goodie’ basket.  Would love to have your jar of honey with your label on it.  Any size accepted
  • Still need a couple of frames for extracting demonstration
  • Fair schedules and passes are in the morning’s mail, if you didn’t pick them up last night
  • If you have honey for sale and would like your name on the producer’s list for the fair, please let me know
  • The membership voted to offer four one-day conference admission paid to first-time attendees.  (October 28 and 29th)  I just need to know who is interested.  We will draw for these ‘scholarships’ at the October meeting.

Let me hear from you,

Petra

Our next meeting is scheduled for July 25th in the West Building where we will review the Honey Show at the Fair.

Trevor Qualls from Bon Aqua Springs Apiaries will be coming with a trailer of equipment for sale. If you would like to preorder, please contact him at www.basprings.com or call him at 931-607-6862.
