Minutes – 2022/12

Meeting Minutes – Monday, 5 December 2022

Wilson County President, Carey Mitchell, welcomed sixty-five members and guests to the annual Christmas dinner on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Ward Ag Center.

As this was a fun meeting, there was no business conducted.  Sign-up sheets and donation envelopes were on each table.  This year’s raffles were a bee jacket and an oxalic vaporizer.   Chances were $1.00 each with proceeds going to the chose charity…HomeSafe, which is a domestic violence shelter for women and children in the Lebanon area.

We were asked to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and Dale McCleskey gave the invocation.  Carey thanked Dale and Freddie Stroupe for preparing our turkeys this year.

Jamie Irons read the TBA Lifetime Member nomination that Jessica Dodds sent in for Carey.  Unfortunately he did not win, but the club recognized his continued leadership of Wilson County Beekeepers with a wonderful treat basket and a dinner gift card (to be shared with Petra).

Members were asked to pick up a wrapped gift (if you brought one) while filling plates from the bountiful tables of fabulous food.  No one should go home hungry.

After bellies were full, Carey introduced the 2023 officers:

President—Carey Mitchell
Vice President—Leonard Walker
Secretary/Treasurer—Petra Mitchell
Directors—Jessica Dodds/Jamie Irons/Jenny Lamb
Alternates—Chuck Benson/Philip Chapman/Laurie Karr
Librarian—Jennifer Ferguson
Newsletter Editor—Sarah Poss
Social Media Queen—Jenny Lamb

.

A big Congratulations to Tim Lankford for being the newly elected TBA Executive President

We played Dirty Santa with those that brought wrapped gifts.  A good time was had by all.   Numbers were drawn for the poinsettias.

The winner of the oxalic vaporizer was Lucky Chuck Benson and Philip Chapman won the bee jacket.  A total of $83.00 was collected through tickets that will go to HomeSafe.

Envelopes were collected for HomeSafe amounted to $1,135.00 in cash and checks for a most generous total donation of $1,218.00.

We were reminded that our next meeting is scheduled for January 2, 2023 at 7:00 pm.  Dues will be due…$10.00 for local dues and $20.00 for TBA dues (if you choose).  David Hughes from Rock Bridge Trees in Bethpage will be doing a program on bee trees and shrubs.

Festivities around 8:30 with a Merry Christmas wish to one and all!

Our end-of-the-year balance in the checkbook is $————–.
