Meeting Minutes – Monday, 10 January 2022
Wilson County Beekeepers Association President Carey Mitchell called the first meeting of 2022 to order on January 10 (after the snowstorm on January 3 caused us to reschedule) at the Ward Ag Center. Fifty-four members and guests were in attendance. Minutes of the December meeting were approved as posted in the last newsletter. The reported checkbook balance is $xxx.xx and a copy of the summary of last year’s year end totals was available for anyone interested..
Carey thanked everyone for the birthday wishes and cards.
.
Old Business Discussed:
- We received the sad news in November that Candice Thompson passed away on the 24th. The club purchased the memorial book “The Beeing” that will go into the Lebanon Public Library and a copy was purchased for the club’s library. David Thompson said he would make the presentation. Carey commented that this book has some spectacular photography and has a wealth of information for newbees and seasoned beekeepers alike.
- Everyone in attendance seemed to have a wonderful time at the Christmas Dinner. We collected $1,001.00 for Wounded Warrior Project and Carey thanked everyone again for their generosity. Chuck Benson (lucky Chuck) won the nuc toolbox
- The bylaws were rewritten and approved at the November meeting. They are included in the back of your new membership book. You will receive one when you pay your dues. If you took the Short Course in November, your membership was included for this year, so stop by and see Petra for your copy, if you haven’t already done so.
.
New Business Discussed:
There are two changes in the membership book that were made AFTER the books were printed:
- Clarence Collison had an unexpected trip come up in March, so we swapped months with him and Shannon Trimboli… Clarence will be here in February and Shannon will be joining us in March
. - The Refresher Course has been pushed up a week in February. Now scheduled for Saturday, February 19 from 9:00 AM until about noon. We will be meeting in the School House behind the Veteran’s Building outside of Fiddlers Grove
