Minutes – 2020/12

Meeting Minutes – Monday, 7 December 2020

President Carey Mitchell called the Monday, December 7 meeting of the Wilson County Beekeepers Association to order.  A total of 26 members and guests were in attendance.   Minutes from the November 7, 2020 meeting were approved as posted in the past newsletter.  The reported checkbook balance is  $xxx.  

Old Business Discussed:

  • TBA’s Board Meeting was held on November 14. Philip Chapman reported that no progress was made and he said it was a waste of time.

  • Last month’s elections resulted in the following:

President—Carey Mitchell
Vice President—Leonard Walker
Secretary/Treasurer—Petra Mitchell

Directors:  Philip Chapman, Dale McCleskey, Peggy Scholes
Alternates:  Margaret Cantrell, David Thompson, Leonard Walker

New Business Discussed:                                                             

  • New sweatshirts are in… if you pre-ordered, Petra has your shirt(s) set aside. If not, there are a few extras.  Also new black and gold hats are in.

Leonard’s Monthly To-Do

  • Feed if necessary—dry feed, not liquid
  • Repair old equipment
  • Purchase new equipment
  • Order your bees

 What’s Blooming at our house:

  • Elaeagnus “Autumn Olive”
  • Henbit (before the freeze)
  • Dandelion

Program:  Al Taylor had a very informative program—What Bee is Right for Me? 

Announcements:

  • January 4-–Sterling Earhart—Use of a Reserve Hive—two queen system
  • Vitex seed available at the back table
