Minutes – 2019/12

Meeting Minutes – Monday, 2 December 2019

President Carey Mitchell welcomed 55 members and family members to the annual Wilson County Beekeepers Christmas Dinner on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Ward Ag Center.

As this was a fun meeting, there was no business conducted.  Sign-up sheets and donation envelopes (for The Watertown Park Project) were on each table.  Also, there was an envelope for folks to put their $1.00 per chance on the bee blanket that Traci Richcreek made.

Carey announced that we were still taking silent bids on the extractor that Les Reece donated to the club.  Highest bid will take the unit home tonight.

Carey asked the membership to stand for the Pledge to the flag and Mark Anderson provided the blessing.

A bountiful feast was enjoyed by all.  If you went home hungry, that was your fault.

Jessica Dodds explained Leadership Wilson and their project for the year being upgrading the Watertown Playground.  She also had a protype of the new bee license plates that should be out later this month.

Carey introduced the 2020 officers:

President…Carey Mitchell
Vice President…Jessica Dodds
Secretary/Treasurer…Petra Mitchell
Directors…Philip Chapman/Dale McCleskey/Jim Murff
Alternate Directors…Margaret Cantrell/David Thompson/Leonard Walker
Librarian…Jennifer Ferguson
Newsletter Editor…Marla Welch

We played Dirty Santa with those that brought wrapped gifts.  A good time was had by all.   Numbers were drawn for the Christmas cactus.

The winner of the blanket was Jennifer Ferguson with $55.00 in tickets sold..  With that amount and the $315.00 collected from the table, we had a final tabulation of $370.00 collected for the Watertown Park Project from the small but generous group.

Cecil Ray is the proud owner of the extractor at $275.00.  This will go back to the original owner, Leslie Reece.

Sunday, December 15, newly elected TBA president, Howard Kerr, will be meeting with North Middle TN clubs at the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce at 9:00 am to share his vision for TBA and get feedback from local clubs.  Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

A reminder… our next meeting will be January 6, 2020 with Trevor Qualls doing a program on Honeybee Biology.  Remember…dues will be due.

Festivities ended around 8:30.

Our end-of-the-year balance in the checkbook is $_______________
