Minutes – 2018/06

Meeting Minutes  – Monday, 4 June 2018

On Monday, June 4, 2018, sixty Wilson County Beekeepers members and family swarmed to the Ward Ag Center for the annual picnic.  Carey Mitchell, President welcomed one and all.  Attendees were asked to sign up at the table and for those that wanted to make a monetary donation to Wounded Warrior Project (our charity for this year), envelopes were provided.

No club business was discussed, as this was an evening of food and fellowship.

The membership stood for the Pledge of Allegiance with Mark Anderson leading us and then provided the invocation.

There were plenty of tables full of good foods and desserts so anyone that went home hungry was by their own doing.

After dinner, Jessica collected the donation envelopes from a total of $503.00 in total contributions for Wounded Warrior Project.  A big thanks to everyone that helped.

Carey shared the scholarship requirements and presented this year’s New Beekeeper scholarship certificates to Becky and Bubba Owen and Allen and Jennifer Ferguson along with a $250.00 check for each.  The recipients seemed quite surprised.

We played a game of Dirty Beekeeper with prizes that included flower seed packets, lighters, fair passes, queens from Hardeman’s, wind chimes, heirloom tomato plants, and begonias.  Fun was had by all, and there was some stealing involved.

As a reminder, NABA will be hosting Field Day at Bon Aqua Springs Apiaries on Saturday, June 9 with BBQ being cooked on site for lunch purchase

The next meeting is July 2, with Carey getting us ready to enter items in the Fair.

.
Respectfully submitted:  Petra Mitchell, Secretary/Treasurer
