Minutes – 2016/12

Meeting Minutes – Monday, 05 December 2016

Wilson County Beekeepers President Carey Mitchell welcomed 99 members and guests to the annual party at the Ward Ag Center on Monday, December 5, 2016.  Families were asked to bring a covered dish and a dessert along with a wrapped ornament for each person attending.

The tables were decorated with poinsettias that were used as door prizes.  Also at each table was an envelope for monetary donations to Wounded Warrior Project.  Kelcie Meador was also sponsoring a fund raiser for the Gatlinburg wildfires through her school…Wilson Central High School.  The school was going to match everything the students collect to help those folks that lost everything.

Carey asked folks to stand for the Pledge and Mark Anderson gave the invocation before everyone went to fill their plates with great food.

After eating, Fred Dawson collected envelopes from the tables and provided the totals:  Wounded Warrior Fund received $1,075.00 and an envelope was given to Kelcie for the Gatlinburg wildfires in the amount of $504.00.   Wilson County Beekeepers are always most generous.

The new officers for 2017 were introduced:  President, Carey Mitchell   Vice President, Margaret Cantrell   Secretary/Treasurer, Petra Mitchell    Directors, Chuck Grogan/Carey Mitchell/Candice Thompson  Alternate Directors, Margaret Cantrell/Jessica Dodds/David Thompson   Librarian, Kelcie Meador and Newsletter Editor, Greg Tomerlin.  Carey thanked Fred Dawson for his services as Vice President and Director.  Fred said he wasn’t going anywhere, just stepping down.

We played Dirty Santa for the ornament swap and numbers were drawn for the table poinsettias and hats donated by Jim Murff and Mike Belcher.

A reminder for the January 2nd meeting was made…dues will be due and Susan Welchance from Rutherford County will be discussing cleaning wax and molding candles.

Carey wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and looking forward to seeing everyone in 2017.

After paying for the supplies for the dinner, our checkbook balance for the end of the year is $ xxx.xx

Respectfully submitted by Petra Mitchell, Secretary/Treasurer this date, December 6, 2016
