Meeting Minutes – Monday, 1 December 2014
On December 1, 2014 President Carey Mitchell welcomed 99 members and guests to the annual Christmas Dinner for the Wilson County Beekeepers Association at the Ward Ag Center. Attendees were asked to sign in on the red sheets at the table. There was also a green envelope at each table to hold the donations collected that evening for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Carey mentioned that the Executive Board had voted not to proceed with the ‘Bee Festival’ that Terri Merryman had proposed due to the work that was involved and the vagueness of the proposal. He also mentioned he was testing out the wireless mike the club was considering purchasing to make things easier during regular meetings. No other club business was on the table for the evening.
Carey asked the group to stand for the Pledge to the flag and W.T. Nolen gave the blessing before everyone proceeded to the tables full of savory dishes and many sweet desserts.
After a most-bountiful meal, Carey asked the officers for 2015 to stand while he did the introductions:
- President—Carey Mitchell
- Vice President—Fred Dawson
- Secretary/Treasurer—Petra Mitchell
. - TBA Directors— Fred Dawson, Carey Mitchell, and Candice Thompson
- TBA Alternate Directors— Margaret Cantrell, Herb Lester (not in attendance), and David Thompson
. - Club Librarian—Kelcie Meador and our newsletter editor and webmaster—Greg Tomerlin
Door prizes were given out at each table to the youngest, oldest, tallest, shortest, closest birthday to December 1, and the furthest from the same date. Afterwards, there was an ornament exchange and hopefully everyone got a new addition to their collection.
As the evening came to a close, Carey reminded us of the January 5th meeting, announced that the club had amassed a donation of $1,120.00 for the Wounded Warrior Project, and wished everyone a wonderful and safe Christmas Season.
Respectfully submitted: Petra Mitchell, Secretary/Treasurer—Wilson County Beekeepers Association, December 4, 2014
